GOD USES BROKEN EGGS |
I was watching the 60 Year Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving celebration this morning, as Queen Elizabeth joyously responded to packed London streets. She couldn't stop smiling from Buckingham Palace balcony. following her open carriage ride through London, in the rain. Her beloved Red Arrows, and Irish Queen's Guards paid beautiful tribute. All that was missing was her husband, Prince Phillip, 91 years old and in the hospital.Still she was radiant in white with her beloved pearls.
Let's honor Queen Elizabeth today with a true English standby recipe.
The Cackling Hens |
Cooking for fun!
Deb Rehder & Sunny Rowe
YORKSHIRE PUDDING
2 Eggs BROKEN
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 Cup Beef Drippings
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (220 degrees C). Place about a tablespoon of beef drippings into each cup of a 6 cup muffin tin. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs until well blended. Stir in the milk, flour and salt. Fill the muffin cups about half way. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for an additional 15 minutes. When serving strizzle the remainder of the drippings over each pudding.
Imagination: I have never used this recipe, but it gets 4-1/2 stars from many users. It is rich, thick and filling. They suggest serving with roast beef (for sure) and mashed potatoes. I am not sure about adding the potatoes, but I suppose a hard working man would love it! I wonder how it would do with poultry, or pork? Whichever you choose, be sure to add lots of good, green veggies!

FIXING THE BROKENESS |
Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. (John 4:4-6)
Have you ever felt like the women at the well? You go out of the way to not run into people. Notice it was at noon when Jesus sat down at the well. Theologians believe she went at noon because no one else would be around. Most of the time, water was gathered in the early morning before it got too hot outside. Maybe she was tired of all the gossiping that went on behind her back. So to avoid them, she knew it would be too hot for the others to be out at the well. So, like her, you go to the stores at a different time of day so just maybe you won't run into someone who may know you. Or if you sneak in the back of the church, and then run out as soon as the pastor says amen, no one will see you. You may take your lunch break at a different time of day so you can take it alone. But one thing we need to look at is Jesus was there and he did three things that we should notice:
- He spoke to her and she was a Samaritan (Jews did not speak to Samaritans, they despised them)
- She was a woman!
- He knew her sins, and yet he spoke to her!
Yes, we may be able to hide from others, or avoid eye contact with them. But we cannot hide from God. We may carry the hidden sins around with us all our lives. We do such a good job in hiding them from our parents or spouse. But we haven't hid them from God. So we continue to feel the burden of our sins. We need to confess them to the Lord, and know that He is there to forgive us right away. Don't live your life in misery, trying to "hide" the very thing that can set you free. God does not condemn us! He FORGIVES
us!
..as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.(Psalm 103:12)
